Recreational 6's Volleyball Rules

  1. Standard CIAU rules apply:
a) Players may not block or attack a serve

b) Rotate in extra players

c) Maximum of five (5) serves in a row

d) Stay off the net (if you do touch the net, the other team gets the point)

e) If the ball lands on the line, it is considered in

f) Double hits are allowed off the serve – VOLLEYING THE SERVE is allowed

g) You may volley the 3rd ball over the net

h) Maximum of three (3) hits per side

i) A block is not counted as a hit

j) You may not use your feet

k) No lifting or scooping the ball

l) Call your own infractions. You may also question other players infractions - both teams must come to a mutual decision about the call. If not, reserve the ball and see the coordinator. Please note that this is a league geared towards enjoyment of sports for everyone – please make calls using your own discretion

2. Games are to begin on time. Teams that don’t have a minimum of four (4) players including one (1) female ready to play by 7:00 pm default the first game.

@ 7:15 pm – the 2nd game is defaulted
@ 7:30 pm – The MATCH is defaulted

3. Each match consists of three (3) games

4. Games are to twenty-one (21) points; teams must win by two (2) points or with a maximum of twenty-three (23) points
(games end when the first team gets twenty-three (23) points)

5. Teams must have two (2) females on the court at all times; teams with only one (1) female must play with a maximum of four (4) players.

6. Rally point scoring is used (the team who wins the rally wins the point)

7. Let serves are good: if the ball hits the net on a serve and lands in, it counts

8. Please report the scored to the coordinator before leaving

9. All teams make the playoffs.
